About

I’m Amy (she/her), owner of Fix It Friend, LLC — a maker, problem solver, and licensed contractor based in Olympia. My wife and I love spending our time exploring and playing in the beautiful PNW.

Before starting my business, I spent years working as an educator, most recently with a nonprofit tall ship organization. During summers and off-seasons, I consistently worked in hands-on roles — painting, drywall, and maintenance — wherever problem-solving and practical skills were needed. I also volunteered building homes with a community organization in Maine.

Over time, those experiences added up to a strong foundation in residential repair, carpentry, and figuring out how to make things work better.

They also taught me something just as important: good craftsmanship matters, but so does the person doing the work. I saw firsthand how hard it can be to find contractors who are both skilled and genuinely trustworthy.

I started Fix It Friend because finding someone you trust to work on your home shouldn’t be stressful. As a queer woman in the trades, I understand how important it is to feel comfortable and respected in your own space.

I’m proud to serve LGBTQ+ folks, seniors, women, busy families, and anyone who values clear communication, thoughtful work, and a straightforward approach. Whether it’s a small repair or a custom project, my goal is simple: show up when I say I will, do solid work, and make the process feel easy.
